You shouldbn't lose everything. Your info, etc, is stored on Facebook's servers. It should be like when I delete my yahoo mail from the apple mail app...it does delete the mail off my ipad, but that mail is still out there on yahoo's servers and redownloads when I reinstall.

If you have any fear, back your device up, then uninstall and reinstall. If your device is messed up then simply restore from the backup you just made and your device will effectively roll back to when the backup was made
